The supervillain Carnage was once a man known as Cletus Kasady. Kasady was a serial killer, and he encountered the offspring of the alien symbiote Venus while escaping from prison. The symbiote bonded to him in a singular way, entering his bloodstream, and creating Carnage.
As a part of the Marvel Comics Universe, Carnage has encountered many other villains and heroes, including Spider-Man and Venom, who teamed up to defeat him. At times, he even bonded with others, including Ben Reilly (a clone of Spider-Man), Norman Osborn (the Green Goblin), the Silver Surfer, and the Hulk. Each time, however, Carnage returns to its original host.
The Carnage symbiote endows its host with super-strength, rapid healing, the ability to implant thoughts in the mind of another, to cling to any surface, to use a web-like substance to make weapons, to shape-shift, and to "see" in any direction. Its abilities may be enhanced or differ when it chooses a different host.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing Carnage from Spider-Man
1. Begin by drawing a large oval. This will help you outline Carnage's head.
2. Draw a curved line downward from one side of the oval. Draw another, shorter curved line crossing from the interior of the oval. Connect them using a series of interconnected, inverted "U" shaped lines. This forms Carnage's upper jaw and sharp teeth.
3. Draw a second series of connected "U" shaped lines below the first. Allow the two sets to connect just inside the oval. This forms the lower jaw.
4. Draw a long, curved line from the bottom jaw to connect it to the side of the face.
5. Erase the lines of the original oval from the jaws, leaving a clean outline of the head.
6. Outline Carnage's eyes. For each eye, enclose the shape using a series of straight and "U" shaped lines.
7. Begin to pattern the top of the head. Use a series of curved lines to create a pattern of liquid.
8. Draw droplets of liquid around the eye and top of the head.
9. Use long, curved lines that double back upon themselves to draw tendrils of liquid emerging from the head. Draw several of these of different lengths. Then, use curved lines to enclose droplets of liquid falling from them.
Color Carnage. He is typically black and red.
